How to change the Quota Settings for Hard Disk in Windows Vista?
Quota Settings for Hard Disk helps you to configure the size of the disk which user can use it. If the user uses the disk space more than the allocated space, then the user will receive a warning message saying “Quota Limit is exceeded. Please contact your system administrator”. This helps the administrator to limit the user from using more disk space.
Steps to change the Quota Settings for Hard Disk in Vista:
1) Right click on Computer (My Computer) and select Open.

2) In the Computer window, right click on the desired partition or drive and select Properties.

3) In the Properties page, click on Quota tab and then click on “Show Quota Settings”.

4) If UAC (User Account Control) prompted, then click on Continue.
5) In Quota Settings for <drive_letter> page, select “Enable quota management” check box.
6) Then, select “Limit disk space to:” option and type the quota limit in the given box and select the data unit, i.e. KB, MB, GB, TB, PB, EB, from the drop-down box.

7) Click on Apply and then OK.
If you want to set the Quota Limit for individual user, then follow the below steps:
1) Follow the above steps from Step 1 to Step 6
2) Then, click on “Quota Entries” button.

3) In Quota Entries for <drive_letter> window, double click on the desired user to set the Quota Limit.

4) Now, in Quota Settings for <username> page, select “Limit disk space to:” option and type the quota limit in the given box and select the data unit, i.e. KB, MB, GB, TB, PB, EB, from the drop-down box.

5) Click on Apply and then OK.
6) Again click on Apply in the drive Quota Settings for <drive_letter> window.
7) Click on OK in the Disk Quota warning dialog box.
