Convert Lightweight Access Point to Autonomous Mode

You can convert LWAPP (Lightweight Access Point Protocol) to Autonomous Mode by loading Cisco ISO Release using TFTP Server. Follow the below steps to convert Lightweight Access Point to Autonomous Mode:

1) Make sure that you have Static IP Address on that PC on which you are running TFTP Server. The static IP address should be between the “10.0.0.2” and “10.0.0.30”.

2) Then, ensure that the system contains a valid “access point image file” in the TFTP server folder. And also make sure that you activated the TFTP server.

3) Now, on the TFTP server system, follow the below steps:

a)      First, disable the firewall such as Windows default Firewall, or any other third party firewall.

b)      Open the Folder Options and then click on View tab. Then, deselect or uncheck “Hide Extensions for known file types” check box and click on Apply and then OK.

4) Then, go to the TFTP server folder and rename the “access point image file” as “c1200-k9w7-tar.default” for “1200 series access point”, “c1130-k9w7-tar.default” for “1130 series access point”, “c1240-k9w7-tar.default” for “1240 series access point”, and “c1250-k9w7-tar.default” for “1250 series access point”.

5) Now, attach the system to the access point via a CAT5 Ethernet Cable.

6) Disconnect the power from access point.

7) Then, press and hold “MODE” button when you reconnect the power to the access point till the status LED turns RED and then un-hold or release the button.
