Recovering Password for Cisco Secure ACS SE


Before proceeding, make sure that you have the below requirements:

1) There should be a console connection to the ACS (Access Control Server) Solution Engine.

2) Must have “ACS SE Recovery CD”.

If you meet above two requirements, then follow the below steps to recover the password for Cisco Secure ACS (Access Control Server) Solution Engine:

1) Insert the “ACS SE Recovery CD” in the drive and reboot the system with ACS SE.

2) You will get the “Recovery Menu”. Type 1 in the recovery menu to reset the “Administrator account” and hit Enter.

3) Then, type Y to confirm and hit Enter.

Now, the administrator account will be reset.

NOTE: In the second step, you can type 2 for restoring the hard disk image from CD. This will be reset to the factory default with the new image.

4) You will get the successful message. Then, remove the Recovery CD and hit Enter to reboot the system.

5) When the system reboots, enter the username as “Administrator” and the password as “setup” in the login page.

6) Then, it will prompt you to enter the new “Username” and “Password” for ACS SE. To setup a new password, there are some conditions and they are:

NOTE: You cannot see the password when typing as it will be invisible.

a)      The password MUST NOT contain the administrator account name.

b)      Password MUST contain at least six characters.

c)      Password MUST contain a mix of minimum three character types like special characters, lower case letters, numerals, and an upper case letters.

7) Then, in the recovery process, you will be asked to setup a BIOS password. Just do it and you are done.

The passwords for the Cisco Secure ACS SE appliance are:

Cisco1111            acs1111

Cisco1112            acs1112

Cisco1113            acs1113
